Singapore, a memoir

Singapore is a city close to home. Living in Jakarta, I would make frequent trips to Singapore. We would go there to enjoy the food, shop and definitely get all the Indian snacks possible from Little India. Everything kept aside, I didn’t really like Singapore till I spent one summer exploring the country. So I dedicate this blog to the first time I fell in love with this city.

I have a friend who study’s in SIM and one summer I decided to take that trip. I asked her to take some time out for me and be my tourist guide.

The first place wee went to is Gardens By the Bay. Opened to the public in 2011, Gardens by The Bay is the country’s iconic garden city. The large land holds multiple conservatories and places to see ranging from the flower dome, supertree grove, cloud forest, and the dragonfly lake. A fun fact, this place contains more than 500,000 species of plants. Isn’t that just amazing to find the most beautiful part of nature under one big roof.

What I wore: Wedding Reception

Audrey Hepburn once said Elegance is the only beauty that never fades. Elegance is not about how well you dress but how confident you are in your own skin.

As I grew up, I always wanted to be a princess. Not because of prince charming, but because like the princesses  I wanted to wear a beautiful sparkly gown, get my hair done and wear a tiara on my head. Even though those things went away as I grew older, my love for long gowns and dresses still exists. Instead of going traditional, I would choose to design or buy a gown for weddings, etc. I find long dresses/gowns exciting when they are designed to bring out sophistication and elegance. I swear sometimes I really think I am born in the wrong era!

Dress To Impress

Having a lazy day? You want to go out with your friend but you rather stay in? Going through your closet but have nothing to wear?
We all wake up to make these decisions.

I never followed the latest fashion looks. I always believed that you can create your own trend. My personal style ranges from dresses to just a pair of sweats and a t-shirt. Getting up for class early in the morning can be a pain. I would have classes start from 7:30 in the morning, and it took a lot out of me to drag myself out of my cozy bed. Instead of spending that extra 10 minutes to get ready, I would rather sleep. This gave me the idea to write about this blog.

This blog is more about how you can make a boring outfit look good. Wear a simple t-shirt but instead of pairing it with sweats, pair it with a skirt or a cool pair of jeans. Add a piece of jewelry or a scarf and make that boring outfit come to life.

I came up with two looks. For this outfit I paired a white t-shirt with a long grey flare skirt. I kept the look simple with a watch and a ring. As for the shoes, I have on a floral printed heels and a handbag to complete the look.
