I went to New York City 8 years ago. It was at that time when I fell in love with the city. Everyone is familiar with the hustle and bustle of the city, everyone has heard the names: the Big Apple and the City that Never Sleeps, and everyone has seen King Kong climb the Empire State building. After 8 years, I decided it was time for me to go see that city again and that is exactly what I did.
I spent a week in New York, but instead of sightseeing a lot, I went to places that I had never been to and ate at the most amazing places. I went to New York to visit my childhood friend and she was my tour guide!
The first thing I did was take the river taxi and take a tour of the city on the Hudson river and after that I went to see he One world observatory (One world trade center). This opened in 2014 and since then has been a great tourist destination. It has 104 floors and the observatory is located on the 100th floor. The view was just amazing and it is a must see place to go when you visit NYC.
Next stop was Central Park. Who wouldn’t want to see the place that has been in every movie shot in New York City. If you want to get away from the crowd and the loud noise of the city, this is the place to go. Even though it was a gloomy day when I went, it was a great day nonetheless. Walking through central park and getting to see the huge fountain (also appearing in lots of movies), people canoeing in the lakes and just enjoying the view of the city, was just relaxing enough.
I also spent a great amount of time at the Metropolitan Museum of Art! I fell in love with the European Paintings sections. My favorite being Edgar Degas’ The Rehearsal of the Ballet Onstage. This painting has always struck to my heart because I did ballet when I was younger and constantly reminds me of the times I performed onstage. I was also honored to get to see Vincent van Gogh’s Self Portrait with a Straw Hat.
S0 the most important question is, where to eat? I am a big foodie and I took this trip as an excuse to try the best places in NYC and eat as much as I want. I know that it is impossible to pick all and everything in the city, so here are some of the places I went to; Spice Market, Vandal, Cotenna, Le Pain Quotidien and, Wafels and Dinges. I definitely recommend you all to go try these places. I swear I had food coma after every meal! Also when you are in the city, don’t forget to indulge in some hot dogs and chicken kebobs on the streets, because come on street food is just amazing!
Other places that all tourists visit are Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Times Square, Empire State Building, Grand Central Station, Madison Square Garden, and the many other museums in the city. You can easily plan according to the number of days you choose to stay in the city.
This trip was one of the best that I have gone to in a long time. Definitely a much needed break! Till next time NEW YORK, because this was not the last time.
Hope you all enjoyed reading and have a great weekend! It’s one more day to FRIYAY! I would love to hear from all of you. So what are some of your favorite places in NYC?
